Amy was born on November 19 1952 in Columbus, Ohio in the community of Bexley to Gerald and Constance (Rupright) Segel. She passed away at home November 28. Amy's father owned a pharmacy where she worked during the school years. She attended Ohio State University and received her law degree from Moritz College of Law. She went west to Phoenix to begin her career, and soon decided the Northwest a more suitable climate, and became a resident of Portland, Or. In Portland Amy was partner in two area law firms. Her expertise was labor and employment law. Amy's last 20-plus years of work was as a solo practitioner. Having moved to Newport, Or. she met Brian Schachtsick in 2002 and a few years later moved to Stayton. Amy was a voracious reader, loved The Ramones and opera and classical music, dogs, and no greater and devoted fan of Ohio State football. Amy was predeceased by her parents, brother Ben, sister Anne, and a number of beloved dog kids. She is survived by her loving family Biggie and Brian, and nephew Scott Segel. Amy was generous. Local favorites Project Pooch, Fences for Fido, Operation Dog, Safe Haven Humane, Willamette Humane, and her town library. Go Bucks’
